At Hillhouse we tailor our food and menus to suit the tastes of each and every individual. Before your arrival at Hillhouse you will have the chance to discuss menus and requirements with one of our chefs so that the food you eat whilst at Hillhouse is exactly what you are looking for.
We use a select range of chefs chosen from across Scotland. They have all been carefully selected and meet the very high standards that we require here. Our chefs use the finest quality locally sourced fresh and seasonal ingredients and where possible fruit and vegetables from the Hillhouse kitchen garden.
We are quite flexible - if you have a budding chef as one of your guests, you are more than welcome to cook your own food in our beautiful and fully equipped guest kitchen.
BREAKFAST
Served each morning:
A sumptuous full cooked breakfast - Organic free range eggs (cooked to your chosen style and preference), finest quality locally sourced sausages, crispy bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms
Toast & Croissant, Yoghurt, Cereals, Fruit, Freshly squeezed orange juice, Tea & Freshly Ground Coffee.
THREE COURSE SAMPLE MENUS
- Pan fried scallops with mixed garden leaves and an Asian dressing
- Locally sourced Ayrshire rack of Lamb served with minted new potatoes, honey glazed carrots and spring greens. Accompanied with a rich red wine jus and jellies
- Pannacotta with Hillhouse raspberry compote and delicate shortbread rounds
- Summer gaspachio with parmesan croutons and crème fraiche swirl
- Traditional roasted fillet of beef with Yorkshire pudding and roasted potatoes. Resting on steamed vegetables and served with gravy and mustards
- Lemon meringue roulade with tayberries and coulis
FOUR COURSE SAMPLE MENUS
- Smoked salmon on hot muffins with dill sauce served with crème fraich and lemon
- Peppered fillet of beef with sautéed potatoes, steamed seasonal vegetables and béarnaise sauce
- Scotch woodcock on toasted brioche
- Hillhouse garden rhubarb syllabub with amoretti crumbs
- Smoked trout and horseradish terrine with mixed garden leaves and mini Melba toast
- Spring lamb with mustard mash and seasonal vegetables. Served with a red wine jus and rosemary
- Cheese and watercress soufflé
- Eton mess with Hillhouse berries
